So tomorrow is my big Fantasy Football draft, and I will be posting up my final team tomorrow to let you all know what sort of big sleeper picks and winners I pick for the year. I love Fantasy Football and have been in a league at my Dad’s Work for at least six or seven years, playing on Yahoo before that. I have never won, I usually end close to the top but I feel good about this year. I am picking #6 this year, with ten players, which means I am right in the middle of the pack. I am looking at a few different players at the spot and if they are available it will be in this order: Frank Gore, Sean Alexander, Joseph Addai. I will probably take another Running Back on the way back around and then a Quarterback on the way back. That is the way the Fantasy Pro’s say to do it! So that will be taking place tomorrow at 9am Pacific, which means since I am in Maui I will be waking up at about 5:30am to make sure I am ready for the draft. Wish me luck, I am going to need it!
So as you know I am trying to hit a pretty heavy market of TV Blogs, but what my goal is, is to bring a big enough fan base to some of the new shows to really market a whole network of TV Blogs. One of my higher grossing websites is BionicWomanTV.com, the website based on the new show Bionic Woman which begins airing this Fall. BionicWomanTV.com is a great little site, mainly because there is so much buzz around the show. With Isaiah Washington joining the cast, the show being a remake of what is considered somewhat of a cult classic, and some high flying trailers from NBC, I think this site may have as much potential as any to take off.
Don’t you love the Wordpress Timestamp? I know I sure do! As this article posts I will be over the Pacific Ocean flying over to the beautiful Maui for a week stay at the beautiful Grand Wailea. I have never stayed at the Grand Wailea but have been to Maui a few times and each time it has been great. Nothing like some good old R&R. And you might be wondering, well what are we going to do without World of Joel for a week? Well no worries, I have some interesting blog posts, thanks to Time Stamp, that will be posting daily while I am gone! So you will have all of that to enjoy while I am sitting on the beach drinking some Mai Tai’s and just relaxing. I will try to put some pictures up on Saturday when I have a Fantasy Football draft I will be participating in online! So I will be gone from Today Wednesday the 29th to September 4th. Aloha Everyone, see you when I get back!

I know this isn’t going to be the most popular post on my blog, in fact many of you probably wonder why I am continually putting up posts on Tennis, what can I say I am a fan. Well I have today off, and this is actually Day 2 of the tournament and so far so good. What I love about the US Open are the night matches, there is nothing like the New York Crowds at night with a few beers in them. Tonight we have Roddick and Sharapova which should be good, but I am wanting to see Blake at a night match, but I am sure if he makes it a match or two in, that will be the case. Speaking of James Blake, has anyone read his book? I have it on my list of things I need to buy, the book is Breaking Back and is close to the top of the Best Sellers List, which is awesome for the Harvard Grad.

So who am I picking to win the tournament? Well that is a tough question, I am hoping for Blake to make a run on the mens side of things but here are my picks.
Mens: Roger Federer: Can you really pick anyone else?
Women: Serena Williams: She looked like she was playing well last night, and if she gets on a roll, no one will beat her.
So I just got done listening to the apology from Michael Vick former Quarterback of the Atlanta Falcons and I have to say for a planned speech that was just horrendous. If you haven’t heard yet, which I would be shocked if you haven’t, the man has been accused of some pretty terrible things, among others dog fighting. I am not going to get into the legality of the issue but just looking at the apology he gave to the media after pleading guilty boggles me. First off I think it should be a rule of thumb never to talk about yourself in the third person. That makes it seem like your better then everyone else, and your the one that is being convicted so thats not good. Being a Christian it is hard for me to comment on him finding Jesus, which if its true that is awesome, God Bless him then, but to me that is not something that needed publicly announcing after pleading guilty. Finally I am just so sick of hearing athletes make themselves out to be more then they are, he said he was a role model for kids, and I think any parent with some common sense would shy away from letting there kids look up to him, and him putting himself at that self proclaimed level was ridiculous.
All in all I can’t say his apology was that sincere, but then again how could it be? Would there be anything that Michael Vick could say that people would actually feel as genuine? In my opinion no.
We are quickly approaching the one year anniversary of the Playstation 3, and for any console that means the honeymoon period is over, and its time to produce some content. I have always been a big supporter of Sony, there is no doubt on my mind they create the best First Party games, or the most great first party games in the last decade, with Nintnedo following very close behind. However what the heck is Sony doing with there Playstation Online Service. I have downloaded over ten demo’s in the last month or two from Xbox Live, been engaged by a few Xbox Live Arcade titles, and played a ton of online multiplayer on Xbox Live. With Sony I have downloaded a whopping three demo’s which include the five minutes of Heavenly Sword, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfight 2 (already played on the 360), and The Darkness. The content that Sony has been putting up on there online service is minimal at best, and really is falling way short of what the Xbox 360 has done. I understand that most of these demo’s are third party, which leads me to believe there has been a very quick change of support that used to be 100% for Sony, and now is turning to the Xbox 360, many complaining that Sony just flat out isn’t putting in the man hours to help there development.

Sony can’t continue to rely on first party support, things like Playstation Home, and the Eye Camera are great additions, and even the price drop was nice, but this is the time where Sony needs to start revving its engines, get the content out there for gamers before you fall to far behind the race. This is going to be a tough holiday for Sony, they are going up against Halo 3 without any Grand Theft Auto title to battle it out, and when you only give the briefest of snippets of possibly one of the biggest titles (Heavenly Sword) to hit the PS3 this year, that is just not going to cut it. I have reviewed nearly every title released for both the Xbox 360 and PS3, and there is no doubt in my mind at this point in time, no matter what sales records may show, the Xbox 360 has more content, more games, and more reasons to buy a console then Sony has with a Cell Processor, A Blu-ray player, and a few good games. Sony you have a great lineup, some great concepts, but when you are coming out a year later then the competition, you need to be moving a lot faster then you are right now. You have the all-mighty cell processor, what’s taking you so long?
I am not the biggest fan of “scary” or “horror” movies, in fact I try to stay away from them, there just not what I usually consider entertaining. But with the recent move out I decided what the heck I might as well dip into some more unknown territory and went and rented Disturbia from Netflix. Now obviously most of you are laughing yourself out of your seats with me considering this a scary movie but nonetheless, I will continue. I have to admit, I was on the edge of my seat from start to finish, from the beautiful opening sequence with the Father and Son Fishing to the end where … well I guess I won’t spoil it for you. But let’s just say its actually a pretty impressive movie. I rented it on Blu-Ray and was once again impressed by the clarity and the amazing sound that comes from a Hi-Def movie, and Disturbia was the kind of movie to watch in that format. Overall I have to say I doubt I will ever watch Disturbia again but for the time I watched it I really did find myself enjoying it, and would recommend it even to the squeamish at heart like myself.

Hey everyone hope you all are enjoying your weekend and getting the rest that you all need to save up for the upcoming week. I said this was going to be a weekly entry here on the World of Joel blog and I haven’t delivered and for that I am sorry, it has been a challenging couple of weeks. But nevertheless I am back with the August 19th edition of Searching Deeper with some great things for your reading pleasure.
Verse of the Week: The LORD is close to all who call on him, yes, to all who call on him in truth. Psalm 145:18 NLT
Song of the Week: Here I Go Again by Casting Crowns
Devotion of the Week: Riches or Poverty- So What? (Crosswalk.com)
Here is another step that can move us from financial bondage to financial freedom. Recognize that you are only free when you are free to use either poverty or plenty. There are two ways in which men and women try to defend themselves against financial disaster. One is by saving as much as possible in an attempt to avert it. The other is by renouncing money or material things entirely in order to be free from their clutches. Both methods have disadvantages. The first, because it can cause miserliness and anxiety, and tends to make a person as metallic as the coins they seek to amass. The second, because it seeks to get rid of the difficulty by washing one’s hands of it entirely. In each case, there is a bondage - one is a bondage to material things, the other a bondage to poverty. The man who is free to use plenty only is bound by that, while the man who is free to use poverty only is also bound. They are both bound. But the person who, like Paul in the text before us today, has “learned the secret of being content … whether living in plenty or in want” is free, really free. While waiting for a train in India, a missionary got into a conversation with a high-caste Indian. “Are you traveling on the next train?” the missionary asked. “No,” he replied, “that train has only third-class carriages. It’s all right for you, because you are a Christian. Third class doesn’t degrade you and first class doesn’t exalt you. You are above these distinctions, but I have to observe them.” Lifted above all distinctions!
I used to be an avid bowler, you wouldn’t know it by my 109, 115, and 77 scores today, but nonetheless bowling is by far one of the most under rated sports out there, it is just a blast. It has been at least a year since I went to the alley, but after a great lunch with Jenn we went with Jake and Amy (my brother and sister) to a local bowling alley where we got an hour of bowling and another free lunch. It was a great time and the best part is my brother Jake and I were playing against each other each time and even with my terrible scores I still held him off, I won’t mention the 77 game, where he had to only knock down two pins in the tenth frame and through two gutter balls. I hope to hit the bowling alley a lot more before the summer comes to a conclusion. Below are pictures taken with my iPhone.

Since I don’t have Movie-Stop.net up and running any more this is my only place to discuss some of the latest movies I have seen, and the latest would be Rush Hour 3. A little background, I am a big fan, I own both movies and have been hoping for a third one for a long time. Having known about all the problems they were having getting Chris Tucker signed to do the third it didn’t ever seem like the movie was going to become a reality. However it is here, it is now in theaters and here is my quick feelings.
Going in I can’t say I was expecting the best movie from the series, but I was surprised to see how little has changed from the first two, to Rush Hour 3. It could be said that the script was cut and pasted from the previous two movies and shot in France. Many of the Jokes we have heard before, many of the scenes were identical to previous movies, and yet it still was enjoyable. There were a few lines that were meant to make the true Rush Hour fans laugh, a few scenes that made zero sense, and an overall feeling of just a fun light hearted movie. In the end I was disappointed with how it ended but still enjoyed the movie quite a bit for its true sense of humor that has echoed through the whole franchise.
